Mark Ian - Daytime Wonder Lyrics
[Verse 1]
We’re into each other Not willing to break rules Maybe take a shot We’re in love or we’re fools Baby, let me take you out for the night I think that this feeling is oh, so right [Verse 2] Don’t think we are done You are going to be mine You don’t get a choice You are stuck Don’t think twice Baby, let me take you out for the night I think that this feeling is oh, so right [Verse 3] We’re into each other Not willing to break rules Maybe take a shot We’re in love or we’re fools Baby, let me take you out for the night I think that this feeling is oh, so right |
About“Daytime Wonder” began as a jazz composition Mark Ian wrote for his Jazz History class at the University of La Verne — a simple melodic idea that grew into a full piece as he explored harmony, swing, and the expressive language of classic jazz. What started as an academic exercise quickly took on a life of its own, evolving from a classroom assignment into a polished, modern jazz tune colored by flirtation, confidence, and vintage charm.
Once Mark revisited the piece outside of class, the song transformed again: lyrics were added, the structure was refined, and the playful mood of the melody found its perfect narrative. The result is a warm, cheeky love song about two people caught up in a spark neither of them fully understands — or wants to question. The lines dance between boldness and sweetness, teasing and invitation, capturing the spirit of a budding romance that feels both spontaneous and inevitable. As the groove glides beneath the vocals, “Daytime Wonder” blends classroom roots with personal artistry, showcasing Mark’s growth as a songwriter who can bridge academic study with real-world musical expression. It’s a piece that pays homage to jazz tradition while keeping his own voice front and center: smooth, charming, and full of swagger. Studio Credits
